Well, not exactly from Ohio or Michigan, but would you believe
Florida? That's right, Florida's first state record for this species
was found alive and washed up on the beach at Ponce Inlet, Volusia
County, FL on December 15, 2009. Read about this amazing find and see
photos of this bird heret:

and the sad outcome for this bird:

Perhaps this is indicative of climate change or some other phenomenon
that we do not know about as yet?

Folks,

The list of the observers of this fall's Ancient Murrrelet at St.
Joseph MI is at 240 people and is still growing. Some are from as far
away as New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Washington DC, Minnesota and Iowa.
If you observed this bird or know of others who did, please respond
directly to me with name(s), city from and date(s) of the sighting.

Thanks,
  Rick Brigham
