I made the trek up from Orient, OH today to see the Hummingbird. I got there at about 11:15 and found a group there that had just seen it 15 minutes prior. Mrs Miller and the others around said it would be back about every 45 minutes. At about 11:30 I spotted it perched on the left hand apple tree up to the right of the house. Within a few minutes it flew down to the Hummingbird feeder and drank for about 20 seconds or so. It flew up into the right hand apple tree and I wasn’t able to spot it any longer. Then about 15 minutes later I spotted it in the tree. It sat there until I left at about 10 minutes till 12pm. He is quite remarkable. I am having Larry DeAtley post them on his flickr account which is http://www.flickr.com/photos/larrydeatley/ If you have an account you will be able to zoom in on the bird. If not, the pics are very small. If you are interested in a copy please email directly and we will try to get some to you.
It is in the set called “birds,” the newest set will be up top.
Thank you to Jane for sharing her scope with me so I could see him so much clearer than through my binos and camera.
Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and happy new year
Brian Ellyson
