Sorry for the late posting, home computer is down again.  I made the trip up to the Ashtabula Co. lakefront on 12/27.  In Ashtabula, I searched both the lakefront and the river and came up with: Canada geese, 140 mallards, Am. black duck, a male Am. black duck X mallard, N. PINTAIL, 6 buffleheads, female LONG-TAILED DUCK, 5 hooded mergansers, 50 common mergansers, 2 red-breasted mergansers, 3 ruddy ducks, 15 double-crested cormorants, 10 great blue herons, 4 Am. coots, 35 Bonaparte's gulls, 10 great black-backed gulls, Carolina wren, and N. MOCKINGBIRD (my first ever here).  Conneaut harbor was slow, with 4 greater scaup, 2 c. goldeneyes, 8 buffleheads, 15 common mergansers, 4 ruddy ducks, 2 pied-billed grebes, great blue heron, 75 Bonaparte's gulls, 8 great black-backed gulls, and a snow bunting.  Some of the roads are closed there, but you can still drive by the lagoon and even all the way out on the spit (with caution).  Both Ashtabula and
Conneaut harbors had waterfowl hunters again.  During the drive up there and back from home in NE Mahoning Co. through Trumbull and Ashtabula Cos. I tallied these raptors:  2 Cooper's hawks, 4 red-shouldered hawks, 10 red-tailed hawks, 1 dark ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK (Monroe Twp., Ashtabula Co.), and 2 Am. kestrels.   Later, Craig
