I headed out to Huron this morning, spurred on by recent white-winged gull reports from there (on Rarebird).  I was dismayed upon arrival, though, to find the entire river, harbor, and lake to the horizon ice-locked, but a decent number of large gulls were around a couple open leads and lounging around on the ice much further out.  I walked out along the northern breakwall to view these birds at a distance, but could not distinguish one white-wing among them, only three ad Lesser and 30 Greater-blacked Gulls.  Also in the Huron area were a respectable number of robins (125), and a single Cedar Waxwing.

I headed over to Sheldon's Marsh from here to check for owls (unsucessfully), but the park as a whole was quite birdy.  Some highlights: Northern Flicker, Red-breasted Nuthatch (4), Hermit Thrush, White-throated (26) and Swamp (6) Sparrows.

Good birding -
