I checked out the Avon Lake Pier/Power Plant section of Lake Erie this 
morning.  The kind folks of the Black River Audubon Society were also 
there for a field trip and let me join them - thanks again everyone!  The 
species we saw included:

Ring-billed gulls
Herring gulls
Gr Black-backed gulls
Mallards
Black Ducks
Buffleheads
Common Goldeneye
Canvasbacks
Redheads
Lesser Scaup
Cormorant
Red-breasted Merganser
Common Merganser
Bald Eagle - perched on the ice where the open lake started
