Ohio birders,

A brief addendum to Jim McCormac's nice summary of the OOS trip to the
Wilds.

I know if I am waiting with a group for a special bird and leave early, I
always feel that the bird will show up as soon as I leave ;-) But, in this
case, those of us waiting at the Jeffrey Point bird platform for the
Short-eared Owl show at dusk gave up when it became too dim to see at 5:55
PM without sighting any Short-eared Owls. Guess they were waiting for the
real dark and/or the disappearance of everyone. On our drive back towards
Athens, my husband and I observed a Barred Owl flying across the road - it
was time for the 'real' owls.

Also, my husband Steve Schafer (who I had to drag out to be a leader) was
happy to find a Merlin for our group during the early afternoon. Paula
Lozano, another member of our group, found the Golden Eagle for us all at
Coal Hill lookout.

Anyway - thanks to Marc Noll and the OOS folk for organizing another great
trip!!!
