A quick hike around the woodland trails (and out to the Nature Center) provided lots of interesting birds in this suburban Columbus metropark. Along the Beech-Maple Trails were both roosting Barred Owl(s) and a Great Horned Owl. The Barred were seen at several locations, so it was difficult to tell if it was 1 or 2 birds. The Great Horned was high in a tree just east of the spur trail coming in to the Maple Loop from the picnic area.
Other birds of note included a Pileated Woodpecker along the Maple Loop, and an immature Red-headed Woodpecker in the Meadows Picnic Area. There were also loads of expected small birds around the Nature Center Feeders; Tree Sparrows were the only unusual birds seen there. There was also a large herd of 9-10 deer.
