A slower-than-average day at Killdeer Plains for Karin Tanquist, Pat Coy,
Susan Jones and myself, was topped off with a Short-eared Owl, just after
dusk on our way out. It was the Short-eared Owl we had. We had a pair of
Long-eared Owls in the conifer trees in front of the house next to the Owl
Grove. In addition to the usual suspects, we had the following:
Rough-legged Hawk 1
Bald Eagle 2
Northern Harrier 4
American Kestrel 4
Red-headed Woodpecker 3
Red-tail Hawk 12
Eastern Meadowlark 4
