Sorry about the tardy post.
Yesterday morning a trip through Killdeer Plains proved worthwhile.

On 115 just after the headquarters we found a Northern Shrike and just
seconds later a beautiful Rough-legged Hawk was hovering over the same field.
Incidentally these were #100 and #101 for January.
Pretty much all of the usual suspects around the area. Also in the area:

6 Northern harriers
a flock of about 20 Lapland Longspurs following the lead of a flock of
Horned Larks just a few yards ahead of them
2 Long Eared Owls in the same Cedar before the farm reported earlier
4 Red Headed Woodpeckers along 123

For the drive from Vermilion to Harpster mostly along Rt. 4 we had a total
of 12 Red Tailed Hawks and 9 Kestrels

Good Birding,
Dan
