I had what I took to be a male Sharp-Shinned take a junco just about 6 feet from me this afternoon.  The hawk was so silent that the squeaks of the captured junco alterted me to its presence.  It was pretty amazing.  The SS got a good hold and flew off over the fence and down the hill.
