A fast stop at Lorain jus tbefore sunset found an unexpected female wood duck hanging out with 5 mallards in a half moon shaped water outlet on the east side of the river. No unusual gulls were seen in the mostly open water, but millions of gulls seemed to be flying on the other side of the breakwall and resting on the ice shelf out there.
Two days ago while almost still completely frozen in, an early morning stop at the same location provided three beautiful Glaucous Gull at very close range making photos very easy. Also at the same small water outlet on the east side a single coot, lesser scaup and red breasted merganser were huddled up at the opening.

Good Birding
Dan
