By far the best bird yesterday afternoon (1/30/10) was a Winter Wren that I kicked up off-trail as I was walking atop a beaver dam that spans a ravine in the CVNP south of Kendall Park Road.

Best bird today on a morning hike at the Ritchie Ledges in the CVNP was a single Golden-crowned Kinglet, unusually low at just above eye level in a hemlock, its golden crown contrasting sharply with the dark green hemlock, and calling continuously.

Best bird everyday at our feeders is the Brown Creeper who has been coming by most every day since mid-December. The bird picks up the droppings from below a suet feeder we have hanging against a large white oak.
