Hi folks, Lots of birds down by the river these last few days. So far nothing rare but some good Jan. century birds. The birds have been attracted to warming water going into the river from various drains which also keeps the ice at bay.  By the river right in from of U of Dayton basketball stadium I've picked up common goldeneye and horned grebe. About a mile south of this spot off east river drive (park by Kaplan college), the river is quite birdy. The last two days I've seen gadwall (4), ring-neck duck (50), belted kingfisher (1), killdeer (1), black duck (12), pied-bill grebe (4),red-breasted merganser (4) along with hundreds of geese, gulls and mallards.
