I had the opportunity to hit Killdeer Plains a couple of times this weekend
and a few spots Northwest of Columbus.
Highlights:
50 - 70 Ring-Necked Ducks on the pond on the west side of Hyland-Cory Rd.,
just north of Dublin-Jerome High School.
Several Red-Tail Hawks and a few Kestrels scattered about between Hilliard
and Glacier-Ridge park.
Killdeer Plains (Friday afternoon and Sunday)
Bald Eagles (all juveniles) - roughly 7. Got a picture of 5 of them chomping
down on a deer carcass. Didn't see any adults.
Short Ear Owls - 10 Corner of 71 and 108
Northern Harriers - several
Kestrels - 4
Long Eared Owl - 1 at the pine grove
Red Tail Hawks - several
Pheasant - 1
Horned Larks - several
Tree Sparrows - dozens (everywhere)
Northern Flicker - 2
