Birders' Calling Cards:
Black Swamp Bird Observatory has been using this small but mighty marketing
tool in a major way for the last three years. But, we didn't just stop with
the little cards; we backed up the message on our BSBO birders' calling
cards with a full-on program to build awareness within the business
community of the economic value of conserving habitat. We call the program
The BSBO Birds & Business Alliance, and it has been a great success, both
for BSBO and for the more than two dozen local, national, and international
companies on board. Here's a link to the program details on our website:
http://www.bsbo.org/birds_and_business_alliance_program.htm

In addition to handing out the birders' calling cards to people visiting the
BSBO's headquarters (located at the entrance to Magee Marsh Wildlife
Area),we also make the cards available as a downloadable pdf on our website
and on the website for the Biggest Week in American Birding.

Thanks,

~Kim

Subject: Re: [Ohio-birds] Birder cards

In the fall at the Midwest Birding Symposium in Lakeside, they gave us
cards to pass out where ever.

Deena and I rented a house for the week before and ate a the Mon Ami
Winery and Restaurant twice. We didn't have the cards yet, but I wrote
on the bill, "Attending the Midwest Birding Symposium at Lakeside."
The manager came over and talked to us and indicated he was "glad to
have bird watchers" spending money. He was aware that many birders
visit the area "around Mother's Day."

We have a Cooper's Hawk as a daily visitor to the yard.
