Yesterday Dave Collopy, Shane Egleston and I did some birding at
Killdeer Plains WA. There are two ponds on T68 that have slivers of open
water in them. Here is a list of what we saw:
Canada Goose
Tundra Swan (10)
American Black Duck
Mallard
Pintail
Bald Eagle
Northern Harrier
Red-tail Hawk
Rough-legged Haw (2 dark morph)
Kestrel
Mourning Dove
Long-eared Owl (2 in the owl grove)
Red-headed Woodpecker
Red-bellied Woodpecker
Downy Woodpecker
Flicker
Blue Jay
Crow
Horned Lark
Chickadee sp
Tufted Titmouse
Eastern Bluebird
Robin
Starling
Eastern Towhee
Tree Sparrow
White-throated Sparrow
Junco
Lapland Longspur
Snow Bunting
Cardinal
Eastern Meadowlark
Cowbird
House Sparrow
We did not stay till dark so we did not see any Short-eared Owls.
While in the Owl Grove I saw a very small black spider walking on the
snow. I have seen snow fleas but I don't know what this spider is. Can
anyone help me with an ID?
