Today, East 72nd was the best i have seen it this year. There were a lot of
gulls and they were in fairly close due to a gizzard shad die-off. There
were probably a little over 1,000 great black-backed gulls. Unusual birds
included GLAUCOUS GULL (3- 1 adult and 2 1st cycle), ICELAND GULL (3- 2
adults and 1 second cycle), THAYER'S GULL (2- 1 adult and 1 2nd cycle), and
LESSER BLACK-BACKED GULL (5- 3 1st cycle and 2 2nd cycle). I saw only 2
Bonaparte's gulls and with herring and ring-billed gulls, there were 8
species of gulls. Waterfowl were pretty much the same species that have
been there recently, although numbers of scaup and canvasbacks were up.

IF YOU GET OUT THERE, PLEASE BE COURTEOUS AND POST YOUR SIGHTINGS.
