After seeing Robert Morton's post this afternoon, I decided to stop by a
local field next to work to see if I could have any luck. That's one of the
things I really enjoy about this listserv. It puts me on notice of what to
keep an eye out for while I'm out and about. Anyhow, my suspicion was
rewarded. On Chestnut Ridge, near the intersection of Bender Road in North
Ridgeville, just east of the Elyria border, I observed 15-20 Horned Larks
and 6-8 Snow Buntings. This is the exact same location where I observed the
two Bald Eagles a few weeks ago. There is a large, countywide sewer project
called LORCO going on at this location. It is about 2 miles south of Sandy
Ridge Metropark. I think that LORCO might be flushing some of these birds
out of their habitat and a bit closer to the road. That's just a guess. In
any event, thank you very much for the post Robert. You helped me make an
otherwise worthless business trip quite exciting! Good birding to all.

Spencer
