I spent parts of the morning and afternoon slipping around the south Columbus MetroPark (and the nearby towns of Reece and Obetz). Snow is very deep (12-18 inches) in most spots, but most roads were clear, as was the multi-use Alum Creek trail in the MetroPark (thanks to the park for plowing it). Tree-loving birds like woodpeckers and chickadees were widespread, while sparrows and finches were tightly tied to feeders. Highlights included:

Geese - a flock of 120 was feeding in the snowy fields around Reese, but most of the others were small flyover flocks.

Ducks - small flocks of Mallards and a few Black Ducks were scattered all along Alum Creek, which had the only open water in the area.

Raptors - several adult Red-tails were at different spots, while an adult Coopers was doing a display flight over the Confluence area.

Woodpeckers - lots of Downies and Red-bellieds at most stops. The only other woodpeckers were a Pileated patiently tearing apart a dead tree at the Confluence area, and a calling Flicker at Heron Pond

Creepers,Wren - Brown Creepers were along the trail at both the Confleunce area and at the Oxbow area, while an enterprising Carolina Wren was feeding in the only snow-free spots available: along the steep stream banks and beneath a footbridge at the Confluence area.

Robins & Mockingbirds - not a one for either species, which is very surprising here.

Horned Larks - 1 was a flyover at Heron Pond, while 5 were feeding along the roadside near Reese. I didn't check Smith Farms where there is often a small flock.

Sparrows - a flock of White-throateds was picking through a bank of rose bushes at the Confluence area, while White-throated, Song, and Tree were all hanging around the feeder at Heron Pond
