Is it possible that I saw a swan today? I was heading south on River Rd.
along the Scioto River in Delaware County (just north of SR 37 near SR
257) and I saw a large white waterbird swimming at the edge of the river
at one of the areas that weren't frozen. I am a very novice birdwatcher
but I especially enjoy waterfowl. So I'm always looking for ducks, etc.

What struck me first about this bird was that it was white and bigger in
size than a Canada goose. It had a long neck. I looked at it for 5-10
minutes, trying to convince myself that it was a goose. But I couldn't
convince myself!

It definitely wasn't a domestic goose. That was easy enough to tell,
especially when it got out of the water and stood at the edge of the
water. The legs and beak were dark. Another thing that stood out to me
was that the top of the neck and back of the head was discolored (grayish).

From looking a pictures on the Internet, it may have been a tundra swan.
But I'm having a hard time believing I saw a swan at all!

Am I crazy???!!
