Spring has definitely started. Waterfowl numbers are increasing daily in the
Lake Erie Marshes. With recent rains it would pay visitors to check out the
agriculture lands to the south of the Magee-Ottawa complex. Several hundred
pintail and a few American Wigeon, Green-winged Teal, and shovelers were in
the cut corn field on the west side of Lemon Rd where Bodi Rd dead ends.
There are additional fields that look good to the west and south for
waterfowl and shorebirds. Several wetland restorations are being completed
between Benton-Carroll rd and SR 19 that are going to have bare ground areas
conducive to shorebirds as they arrive over the next month.
Enjoy the variety the area holds and be adventuresome in finding other
locations.
