Hey all -

As Mark posted earlier today, waterfowl numbers in agricultural areas just south of Magee Marsh/Ottawa are avian spectacle to behold at the moment.  While crusing several backroads - Darsch, Rt. 19, Benton-Carroll, and Lickert-Harder, this afternoon, there were literally dabblers and swans in the air at all times, and piled into every wet spot in marshes and cornfields that we passed.  Emil Bacik and I began our day much earlier in Lorain Co...here are the overall highlights:

Tundra Swan  650  Ottawa Co.
American Wigeon  500  Ottawa Co.
American Black Duck  100  flooded field - SR 2 east of US-250
Northern Pintail  700  Ottawa Co.
Green-winged Teal  50  Ottawa Co.
Common Merganser  75  Sandusky Bay bridge
Northern Harrier  2
Sandhill Crane  2  Benton-Carroll Rd.
Lesser Black-backed Gull  3  ad. - all in ag fields in Lorain Co, accompanying large Ring-billed/Herring flocks
Glaucous Gull  1  ad  spotted on the ice while crossing the Sandusky Bay bridge; we pulled over for nice looks (not reccomended!)

Good birding -
