The Darke County Birders drove their annual Darke Duck Drive this afternoon. Four members: Ann Glidewell, Cindy Ploch, Autumn Young, and Regina Schieltz drove through most of the western half of Darke County searching flooded fields and wet areas. It rained the entire drive, but that didn't dampen our spirits or our finds.

Highlights included:
Can. Geese many
Snow Goose 1 white phase
Mallards
Redheads
Gadwalls
Lesser Scaups
Ringneck ducks
Wood Ducks
Bufflehead 1
Hooded Mergansers
Great Blue Heron
Wild Turkeys 3
kestrel
red-tailed hawk
mourning doves
robins
grackles
redwings
starlings
song sparrows
Am. pipits 12
Cardinal
crows
Bluejays
Titmouse
Carolina Chickadee

No snipes or other shorebirds. There sure were enough flooded fields for them. I guess it was just a little early.
