I stopped around this MetroPark southeast of Columbus for an hour this morning just around sunrise. The cavalcade of ducks reported by several observers is still present, with excellent species diversity, even though numbers were not particularly great. The best spots are Teal Pond, Wood Duck marsh, and Arrowhead Marsh. The waterfowl list included
Canada Goose - 200+
Wood Duck - 3 pairs
Mallard - 120+
Black Duck - 6
Shoveler - 12+
Green-winged Teal - 40
Blue-winged Teal - 1
N.Pintail - 2 pair
Gadwall - 2 pair
Amer.Wigeon - 8
Redhead - 2
Ring-necked Duck - 50+
Lesser Scaup - 3
Hooded merganser - 15+
Pied-billed Grebe - 2
Am.Coot - 6

Other birds of note included:
displaying Woodcock - 2 were sounding & flying at neaby Portman Park in the pre-dawn minutes

Great Blue Herons - the colony at Teal Pond looks to be 3-4 nests, while the older colony at Ellis Pond has about 20 active nests.

Blackbirds - Redwings & Grackles were everywhere, while singing Cowbirds were at Portman and Ellis Pond

Towhees - singing birds were at Portmann, Wood Duck picnic area, and the Meadowlark Trail

Sparrows - there were still a few Tree Sparrows around the feeder at Wood Duck Picnic area (1 was even singing), but more unusual was a singing VESPER SPARROW along Bowen Rd just south of there. It's one of the earliest I've ever seen.
