I recently got back from a week in Florida, so I was eager to get out and see what was up with waterfowl migration here in Mahoning Co.  The lakes were mostly ice-covered when I left, nice to see the ice and snow gone now.  Here's the highlights from yesterday 3/17......at Evans L.: 64 tundra swans, gadwalls, redheads, 70 ring-necked ducks, lesser scaups, buffleheads, c. goldeneyes, hooded mergansers, 26 red-breasted mergansers, and ruddy ducks.  At Pine L.: 4 tundra swans, lesser scaups, buffleheads, 34 red-breasted mergansers, horned grebes, pied-billed grebes, and Am. coots.  In Beaver Twp.: redhead, 75 ring-necked ducks, lesser scaup, bufflehead, and red-breasted merganser.  At dusk I went to a reliable timberdoodling spot in Coitsville Twp. and heard 1 Am. woodcock displaying.  Craig Holt, Lowellville
