Early this morning at 0400 I heard a Great Horned Owl hooting outside my apt
building. Then it
seemed like maybe there were two. The hooting seemed sort of relaxed but I
have no experience
with that, just my impression.
. My ground floor apt backs up to a undeveloped wooded lot but is otherwise
very much in town. However across the street is a
part of Wright Patt AFB that has some open areas and wooded areas.
I got up and got my little bino's that I keep out and stepped outside
and tried scanning the tops of trees. It was pretty dark but I basically
got lucky and spotted one. It was hard to be sure but when the one sitting
a few feet away moved - yep 2!

So...I thought they were done mating by this time and on nests?

Mary, Fairborn OH
