Today from 4:30PM to 5:30PM in the pouring down rain, we watched at least 14 Long-tailed Ducks feeding close to shore on the south side of the causeway on US224 at Berlin Reservoir. For the third day they seem to favor Portage County southwest of the bridge. Also of interest, at 4PM there was a single Osprey standing on the traditional nest located north of Greenbower Road on the south end of Berlin in Stark County; arrival seems earlier each year. Continuing with Long-tailed Duck sightings in this banner spring migration, a friend had 18 at Walborn Reservoir on tuesday afternoon at the Portage County end. How long can this great showing go on?
