At 5:15PM there were at least 9 Long-tailed Ducks still visiting the Berlin Reservoir Portage County site. They are at at the same location as yesterday, on the south side of the US224 Causeway about three hundred feet southwest of the bridge. They were so close to the shoreline today you had to park and walk across the road and look down from the guardrail to see them! If these are part of the original 30+ observed four days ago, they have stayed much longer than usual one day wonders. There must be a good food source, because they are constantly diving and feeding. Will they stay thru the weekend? Also farther out today are about 80+ Lesser Scaup, some Cormorants, and the usual Gulls.
