I stopped at two different times of day to view the middle basin of Alum Creek Lake (north of Columbus), which is the area north of the Cheshire causeway, but south of the US 37 bridge. Waterfowl migration is still straggling through here, as evidenced by the changeover of birds. In the morning, all that was present was
  10 cormorants, 10 Canada Geese, 10+ Ring-billed Gulls, and 5 Bonaparte's Gulls

By 3 PM, flocks of waterfowl had moved in, including
  20 Mallards, 10 Black Ducks, 15 Am.Wigeon, 20+ Green-winged Teal, 10+ N.Shovelers, 80+ Lesser Scaup, 24 red-br.Mergansers, 12+ Ruddy Ducks, and some 100+ ducks too far away to ID.

Unfortunately, boaters were also coming out in force in the afternoon, and many of these duck flocks were scared into secluded bays, or off the lake altogether, by the boat traffic. Other birds of note around the area were 1 subadult Bald Eagle (which flushed up many of the ducks on its way north), 15+ Turkey Vultures, 2-4 Tree Swallows, 1 Phoebe, and 3-4 E.Towhees.
