A short visit to the park this morning after taking the dog to the vet
turned up a single SPOTTED SANDPIPER on the west bank of Silvercreek Lake in
the Summit Metropark of the same name, southwestern Summit County, bordering
Medina and Wayne Counties. There is some exposed mudflat along the west
bank, so it might be interesting there this season. On the water there also
were 4 mute swans, some ruddy ducks, ring necked ducks, and one possible
merganser... the backlighting made ID difficult. Canada geese and mallards,
naturally. Also seen near the lake and along a section of the bridle trail
were 2 killdeer, a great blue heron, a brown thrasher, lots of towhees, a
few chipping sparrows, field sparrows, and a single yellow rumped warbler,
along with the usual resident birds. No kinglets, oddly.

I also picked up a FOY great egret in the wetland along Maco Rd, plus some
wood ducks.

A brown thrasher has returned to the yard... third year of nesting nearby,
perhaps? The family of brown thrashers hopping around the yard last year was
fun to watch.
