Until about ten years ago, the vernal ponds along the entrance road to
Bolton Field Airport (west Columbus) held good numbers of shorebirds,
especially Pectoral Sandpipers and Wilson's Snipe, in late March and April.
Since that time a few of these birds can be found occasionally.

This year I have checked these ponds a number of times and found no
shorebirds whatsoever, until today. This afternoon, I found six Wilson's
Snipe in and around the pond on the south side of that road. The only other
birds present were a Killdeer and four American Robins.
