I feed deer shell corn in my backyard and Mr. and Mrs. Mallard come from the neigbhors pond behind my house to help themselves to the corn.  They also eat the seed that drop from my bird feeders.  They've been coming for several years now.

I don't know if it is normal, but the mallards up at North Chagrin Reservation do it all the time.  It is kinda funny looking.

Subject: [Ohio-birds] Normal Mallard behavior???

Is it normal behavior for Mallards to come and eat underneath a bird feeder?
We have a pond so I am used to seeing them around but for the first time I
have seen them come into the backyard and eat from underneath one of the
bird feeders.  They have visited that area 3 times today.  I have never seen
them do that before.  I was just curious.  Here is a photo I was able to
take:
