Sensing that wetlands might be a good stopover for the increasing numbers of migrant shorebirds, I stopped by these n.Pickaway County wetlands yesterday morning. Water levels were too high for any significant mudflats, but there were some interesting things around nonetheless, including:
Wood Ducks - 6-8
Blue-winged Teal - 3 pairs
Ring-necked Duck - 1 female
Black Swan - unafraid, an obvious escapee
SORA - at least 2 along the main wetland trail, with 1 calling and 1 flushing from the wet edge.
Kildeer - 1-2
Gr.Yellowlegs - 4-5
Spotted Sandpiper - 1 pair
Wilson's Snipe - 2
E.Kingbird - 1 (FOS for me)
Swallows - loads of Tree swallows, a few Rough-wings and Barns
