I hiked around two areas of this MetroPark along the Darby Creeks southwest of Columbus this morning and found a fairly good fallout of temperate migrants. The areas included the Indian Ridge/Terrace Trail area and the Cedar Ridge area, both of which have a good mix of riparian forest, dry upland forest, and wet meadows. Birds were in patches, as happen in many fallouts, but the totals were decent and included:
E.Kingbird - 1-2 at Cedar Ridge
House Wrens - 4-5
Ruby-crowned Kinglets - 10+ widely scattered
Blue-Gray Gnatcatchers - 25+, including 2 pairs defending nests
Wood Thrush - single birds singing at each spot
American Pipits - 2 flyovers at Indian Ridge
Blue-headed Vireos - 1-2 singing at each spot
Parula Warblers - 2 at Cedar Ridge
Yellow-throated Warblers - 4 singing along Cobshell trail at Cedar Ridge
Yellow-rumped Warblers - 60+ in several flocks
Palm Warblers - 12+, mixed in with yellow-rumps
Common Yellowthroat - 1 singing at Cedar Ridge (my FOS)
Louisiana Waterthrush - 3+ singing along creek (2 at Cedar Ridge, 1 at Indian Ridge
E.Towhees - 12+, mostly around Terrace Trail
Field Sparrows - 10+, mostly around field edges along the Terrace Trail
Chipping Sparrows - 12+, mostly around the Cedar Ridge picnic areas
White-throated Sparrows - 80+ in several flocks
