I birded around several sites around Hoover Reservoir south of Maxtown boat launch, focusing mostly on the area around the dam but also hitting some sites along both shores. Waterbirds are almost absent; aside from a few geese and Mallards, I had 1 flyby cormorant and a pair of Blue-winged Teal. Only 5 Ring-billed Gulls were around this portion of the reservoir; I saw more around Columbus parking lots the prior day! As most have noted, however, landbird migrants were the big story today. Highlights for this location included:

Swallows - 20+ Cliff around the dam, with scattered Tree, Rough-winged, and Barn
Phoebes - several locations
Vireos - Warbling (several locations), Blue-headed (Maxtown), WHITE-EYED (FOS Hoover Nature Trail), and Red-eyed (HNT)
Ruby-cr.Kinglets - still plenty, with 10+ during the morning
Blue-gray Gnatcatchers - 16-20, with several pairs on territories
Wood Thrush - 1 below dam
Hermit Thrushes - 4, at several locations
Brown Thrasher - 1 Hoover Nature Trail
Warblers - no great numbers, but decent diversity: Yellow, Parula, Nashville, Bl.throated Green, Yellow-throated, Yellow-rumped (10+), Palm (4+), REDSTART (FOS at Maxtown), La.Waterthrush (1 singing at the dam disc golf course)
Sparrows - Field, Chipping, Song, White-throated (40+), LINCOLN'S (FOS at Area F)
ORCHARD ORIOLE - FOS male at Area F
