Ohio Birders:
The National Audubon Society has set up a website at www.audubonaction.org, where you can click on a link, fill out a form, and they will let you know if and where you can be used.
It will ask you about your technical skills, wildlife rehab experience, even down to the number of miles you think you can walk! So it is fairly thorough. THere appear to be opportunities to volunteer in your own community by disseminating pamphlets, etc.
So far, one N. Gannet has been rescued, and the last I heard, it was taken to Ft. Jackson about 40 miles upriver from Venice, LA.  And as of  10:30 the parish president of Plaquemines Parish said that a flock of brown pelicans had not yet been disturbed. I do not how long that will last.
Thank you for all of the emails of concern. We can only hope for the best.
Wendy Rihner
