Two days after checking the heavily forested borrow pits area in this south Columbus park, I took some time to explore 2 more open migrant traps: the Groveport Blacklick BikePath (GBBP) and the Oxbow area of the Alum Creek bikepath. Both of these are narrow riparian corridors that enlarge a bit to offer a good stopping area for migrants. I hit the GBBP in the morning and Oxbow in the afternoon, so the former had a longer list, but the net impression was a decent fallout. Highlights in about 45 mintues at each site included:
Barred Owl - 1 pair at GBBP (they've nested here before)
Least Flycatcher - 1 GBBP
Wood Pewee - 1-2 at each spot
Crested Flycatcher - GBBP
Yellow-thr.Vireo - 1 Oxbow
Red-eyed Vireo - 5+ GBBP, 4 Oxbow
Warbling Vireo - 5+ Oxbow
House Wren - abundant at both sites
Gnatcatchers - abundant at both sites
Wood Thrush - 4+ at GBBP, 2+ at Oxbow
Swainson's Thr - 2 at each site
Gray Catbird - abundant at both
Cedar Waxwings - 2 at Oxbow (FOS for me)
Yellow Warbler - 3+ GBBP, 5+ Oxbow
Parula - 2 singing Oxbow
Nashville - 3+ GBBP, 1 Oxbow
Tennessee - 2+ GBBP
Bl-thr.Green - 4+ GBBP
Magnolia - 3 GBBP
Yellow-throated - 1 at each site
Yellow-rumped - 3+ GBBP, 2 Oxbow
Bay-breasted - 1 male GBBP (FOS for me)
Redstart - 2+ GBBP
Black&White - 1 singing GBBP
N.Waterthrush - 1 singing GBBP
Com.Yellowthroat - 2+ GBBP, 1 Oxbow
Yellow-br.Chat - 1 singing GBBP (they've nested here)
Scarlet tanager - 2 GBBP
Indigo Bunting - 3+ GBBP, 2 Oxbow
Rose-br.Grosbeak - 1 pair, 2 others singing GBBP
E.Towhee - 5-6 GBBP, 4+ Oxbow
