As light was fading and thunderstorms were flashing and booming off to the
north and west, I was hurrying to finish my yard work when I heard the FOY
call of a nighthawk overhead. I looked up in time to see him hurtling
earthward with bent wing in a falcon-like dive. He seemed to disappear into
the top of my elm tree. I didn't see him swoop back up or fly away. Is it
possible he was taking cover in my elm as the storms approached? Or could he
have been up to something else?

A neat sighting!
