The indomitable Steve Landes called again. He found a breeding-plumaged
(including the pink on the underparts) Franklin's gull with the
aforementioned gathering across the road from Pickerel Creek; it flew
south, but probably will return.
Steve also walked up north from the pumphouse past the woodlot, to the
spot east of the dike that was so good for shorebirds last fall. There
he found a few dunlins in the grass, but more interestingly a male
Eurasian wigeon, w/American wigeon, (this is a significantly late record
for this species in Ohio); this suggests other interesting drop-ins
during this turbulent weather.
