The indefatigable Rick Asamoto has been photographing a
breeding-plumaged Pacific loon within the past half-hour at Caesar Creek
reservoir, most recently from the Harveysburg Rd vantage-point. It was
also seen from one or two the boat ramps on the other side. It was seen
seen not far from to four common loons (two alternate, two basic
plumage) but did not associate closely with them, and separated as it
moved to the north. Hard to predict the best viewing point. It is diving
a lot. An alternate-plumaged Pacific would be unprecedented for Ohio; I
recall seeing a basic-plumaged one at this same reservoir about 15 years
ago. More news as it arrives.
