A coot has joined the two Ring-necked Ducks which have been present since
early May - on a large farm pond in northern Athens County near the
intersection of SR 78 and SR 13 north of Glouster. I'm surprised that these
ducks are still there as this pond is usually fished by locals - however
with over 7 inches of rain in May thus far locally the water has been turbid
and slowly overflowing its bank on one end, probably discouraging the avid
SE Ohio fisherman or woman. The first wet line in this pond this spring
will probably spook these birds off.
