The Lake Erie Islands  Chapter of the Black Swamp Conservancy will host
bird programs for an  Elderhostel sponsored by the Lake Erie Islands Historical
Society on South Bass  Island. Some of the events will be open to the
public and all are welcome to  attend the following:

Tuesday, May 4, 7:15 PM, Put-in-Bay Town Hall,  "Banding Birds" with Tom
Bartlett, Master Bander for the USGS and certified  bander/trainer for the
North American Banding Council

Wednesday, May 5,  7:15 PM, Put-in-Bay Town Hall, "Spring Warbler ID" with
Tom Bartlett,  Master Bander for the USGS and certified bander/trainer for
the North American  Banding Council

Monday, May 10, 7:15 PM, Put-in-Bay Town Hall, "Lake  Erie: Where The
Birding Action Is" with Larry Richardson, formerly of Lake Erie  Nature and
Science Center. Our region is in the perfect place with the perfect  resources
for spring and fall bird migration. This is a combination of  geography,
temperate climate, weather and food supply. Larry will explain why  Lake Erie is
among the best birding destinations in the world and is of global
ecological importance.
