I've been birding close to home the last couple days.  It's always great to hear the local nesting species back at their familiar haunts.  Had some migrant warblers too.  Some highlights from the Lowellville/Poland Twp. area 5/3--5/4: wild turkeys, barred owl (flew across the road in front of my car!), red-headed woodpecker, warbling vireos, white-eyed vireo, red-eyed vireos, horned lark, blue-gray gnatcatchers, e. bluebirds, wood thrushes, gray catbirds, n. mockingbirds, blue-winged warblers, Nashville warbler, n. parula, yellow-rumped warblers, black-throated green warbler, Am. redstarts, scarlet tanagers, rose-breasted grosbeaks, Baltimore orioles, and purple finch.  Craig Holt, Lowellville
