Hi folks,

The prairie warbler previously mentioned by Karl Overman in his May 31
post continues to sing at the Oak Openings Metropark sand dunes area on
the east side of Girdham Rd, just south of the Wabash bike trail. I
never did get a good look at the bird, but it was quite vocal. The park
management has a sign posted asking visitors to restrict their movement
to the dunes trails only to avoid disturbing ground nesting birds
through the end of June, so it certainly is a tough bird to get a look
at (though certainly important to protect this special habitat). It is
nice to know that there are a couple on territory in the park.
