Ohio birders:

I just sent off my "trip report" to my fellow birders on the Michigan
Birders list. I want to forward and share "my story" with you. This was a
great trip for my wife and me! This was the first year we visited Ohio to go
birding, and this was our third visit this year! What a cool place!

To "close the loop" on a related subject, I also want to add a note that I
really appreciated the responses I received from the Ohio birders list about
the closed Magee Sportsmen's Center I wrote about earlier on your list. I
was quite amazed that so many people were similarly impacted as we were on
just a single day! And this is only from the Ohio listers! I can just
imagine how many others were impacted on the same day during this special
time of year!

I especially want to thank Mary Warren and Jim Witter from the Magee
Sportsmen's Center, and their supervisor Scott Butterworth - to whom they
forwarded my note - for each responding personally to me about why they had
to close the facility on that certain day. I truly doubt that it will ever
happen again during migration. I think in fact that it may even be
envisioned to now modify Ohio DNR/DOW regulations to allow dedicated
volunteers to staff the facility during absence of state employees during
critical birding times - similar to the nearby federal ONWR facility. Thanks
so much to all - I understand the situation now and truly appreciate the
responses! What a national treasure you have there!

I hope y'all enjoy my "ramble". (Yes - I am known in Michigan for doing this
sort of rambling thing on occasion.)

I also want to mention I really enjoy hearing about the Ohio birding y'all
write about on your list! Thanks so much for posting!

Subject: I posted my blog on NW Ohio trip finally

Remember "spring migration"? I guess it is officially over, but I finally
finished blogging about our overnight trip to NW Ohio in May. Cool place,
new birds, and it was a great time with each other!

I am actually quite proud of my "story". I encourage you to check it out!

Let me know what you think.

"Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day." Teaching a man to "bird"
is much harder!
