For a change of pace, this morning's bird walk centered around Grinnell
Mill, rather than our typical jaunt in the North Glen. I always enjoy
birding here, especially in migration, and we found a reasonable showing of
summer residents today. Here's the list:
Great blue heron
Mallard
Turkey vulture
Black vulture
Red-shouldered hawk
Mourning dove
Yellow-billed cuckoo
Red-bellied woodpecker
Downy woodpecker
Eastern-wood pewee
Barn swallow
Carolina chickadee
White-breasted nuthatch
House wren
Carolina wren
Gray catbird
American robin
Wood thrush
Blue-gray gnatcatcher
Cedar waxwing
Red-eyed vireo
Northern Parula
Common yellowthroat
Northern cardinal
Indigo bunting
House finch
American goldfinch
Chipping sparrow
House sparrow
