I am told an American avocet has been seen since Saturday at Battelle
Darby Creek MP in Franklin Co., in the north end west of Darby Creek
Drive and east of the bike trail, Delorme 67:A-7. This seems to be a new
record for the park. This is the new wetland where black terns were
found recently, and just north of the 500-acre prairie wetland to be
restored there beginning this fall, using 3500 pounds of local wetlands
vegetation seeds; I hear these areas are designed for a variety of
wetlands species, including, it is hoped, nesting sandhill cranes.
