"You cannot begin to preserve any species of animal unless you preserve the
=
habitat in which it dwells. Disturb or destroy that habitat and you will ex=
terminate the species as surely as if you had shot it. So conservation mean=
s that [we] have to preserve forest and grassland, river and lake, even the=
sea itself. This is vital not only for the preservation of animal life gen=
erally, but for the future existence of man himself=E2=80=94a point that se=
ems to escape many people."

And this is why with my few dollars I support The Nature Conservancy and any
legislative efforts that come along. I have given up on education.
I have found in everyday life when talking to people that they are for
wildlife right up
until it has some negative impact on them. I can explain the importance of
dead trees
and its all great and interesting, till they don't like the ones on their
property and then its just too bad.
Talk about it like its very important, no matter how academically or
intellectually and how much honey you
use, you'll get labeled someone who prefers animals over people - a people
hater (this seems to be some
sort of new tactic to shut down debate).
Man is its own worst enemy.

Marie, Fairborn
