Hi all,

Just a couple more things - first of all, if you're planning on helping, please let me know so I can get a head count and plan how many blocks we can atlas. Second, if you're interested in helping in the north part of the region (Geauga Co. area) but don't want to travel down to West Branch first, let me know and we can arrange blocks for you up there to do on your own.

Good luck atlasing!

Subject: OBBAII Region 42 Blockbusting Weekend!

Hi all,

I hope all the OBBAII atlasing is going well. Late June and July is a great time to get out there and confirm a lot of species as many adults are feeding young already. As we all know, blockbusting weekends are a lot of fun so I thought I’d start one for Region 42. This region covers Portage and southern Geauga Counties as well as parts of Trumbull and Mahoning and includes areas such as West Branch and Punderson State Parks, LaDue Reservoir, Lake Milton, Berlin Lake, Mogador Reservoir, Eagle Creek SNP and six parks within the Geauga Park District.

Unfortunately I won’t be in Ohio the second half of July so I needed to schedule it soon. Mark your calendars for July 10th and 11th. We’ll use West Branch State Park as base since it offers great camping (electric, hot showers, flush toilets) for those who wish to camp, pavilions for
lunches and it’s located near a lot of blocks that need atlased. We will meet both days at 7:30am at the parkinglot off Rock Springs Road just south of the causeway (see map below). The map calls it the West Ramp.

West Branch map - http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/Portals/2/parkmaps/westbranchparkmap.pdf

We will meet between 12-1pm both days for a potluck at the same parkinglot; there is a picnic shelter, grill and toilets. Breakfasts will be on your own and for those who plan on camping, we can plan something together for dinner (have a cookout, go into Ravenna for dinner etc.).

Please let me know if you’re interested in helping or have any questions. Bring your DeLormes!

Thanks,
Ethan Kistler
