Assistant Professor in Science Education

Position:The Science Education program at The University of Iowa seeks an
assistant professor for an academic-year, tenure-track position.  The
successful candidate will join a program that emphasizes a strong research
agenda on teaching and learning in science classrooms.

Qualifications: 1) earned doctorate with major emphasis in science
education; 2) a minimum of three years successful teaching experience at the
elementary/ secondary school or college level; 3) demonstrated ability to
conduct research in science education; 4) evidence of excellence in
teaching; 5) potential for attracting external funding; and 6) ability to
work collaboratively and to work with diverse populations.

Responsibilities:Responsibilities will include teaching undergraduate and
graduate courses in science education; advising MA and PhD students; and
pursuing a robust personal research program.  In addition, the candidate
must secure external grant funding, participate in professional
organizations at the national and international levels, and be involved with
science education activities within the state.

Salary: Highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications and
experience; excellent start-up package, benefits, and research support.

Appointment:Nine-month, tenure-track appointment beginning August 2011.
